ALD Automotive Highlights Increase in Leasing in Spain

The Spanish Renting Association published its monthly analysis in which it highlights that more than 10% of the vehicles registered in renting are electrified.

According to the report reviewed in the official portal of ALD Automotive I LeasePlan, at the end of November 2023, a total of 27,519 units of the different types of electrified vehicles were registered in leasing.

The aforementioned figure represents a 31% growth compared to the data at the close of November 2022.

Taking into account all vehicles powered by alternative energies (electrified, hybrid, gas and hydrogen) at the end of November 2023, they account for more than 36% of total leasing registrations, while in the same period of 2022, their penetration was 32%.

Thus, leasing accounts for almost 24% of total registrations of alternative energy vehicles.

Overall, a total of 269,402 units have been registered so far this year, almost 18% more than in the same period of 2022.

As for the results of the total market in Spain, the data grow along the same lines, with an increase in registrations of 18%, with 1,026,843 units registered up to November 2023. Thus, the weight of leasing in total registrations is over 26%.

The vehicle segment in which leasing is most represented is that of derivatives, vans and pick-ups, in which the sector accounts for over 45% of the market, 8 percentage points more than in November 2022.

In November, 24,426 vehicles were registered in the leasing sector, 3% more than in the same month last year.

The total investment made in the acquisition of new vehicles by leasing companies as of November 2023 reached 5,998 million euros, almost 20% more than at the end of November 2022.
