General Motors Launches First Electric Chevrolet in Chile

General Motors closes 2023 with the launch of its electromobility strategy in Chile with the official presentation of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV (Electric Utility Vehicle).

The arrival of Chevrolet‘s first electric model in the country marks a precedent in the advancement of electromobility that the brand has been working on, betting on positioning itself in the automotive market focused on renewable energies and aligning directly with the goal of carbon neutrality established by Chile to 2050.

The Director of Sales and Operations of General Motors in Chile, Marcus Oliveira, emphasized that this is the beginning of the plans considered for the advancement of electromobility in the country.

“We will continue working on the promotion of electric technology, deepen consumer education, promote a robust electrification ecosystem and differentiation between new technologies to also promote initiatives and incentives,” he said.

“At General Motors we are taking firm steps that set us on the path towards the future of our main objective in terms of electromobility: to be leaders in the electric car segment in Chile and the region,” said Oliveira.

The first electric model of the brand in Chile has a motor with a power of 147 kW, 65 kWH of battery capacity -which allows it to reach a range of 456Km (WLTP cycle)-, and a torque of 360 Nm, giving it the necessary force to move its structure of 1,669 kilos.

In terms of dimensions, the Bolt EUV measures 161.6 cm in height, 177.8 cm in width and 430.6 cm in length.

The brand’s proprietary technology allows a power output of 200 hp and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7s with constant regeneration and less wear and tear.

The car includes a charging cable that will allow users to charge in a common electrical outlet, using a type 2 charger for charging level 1, 2 and CCS2 for fast or super fast charging.

In this way, the vehicle can be charged with any of the three forms of charging available on the market: fast charging at electric stations; charging at home with 220V and 2.2 kW socket, and or charging up to 7.4 kW, in the case of acquiring a wall charger with Enel X.

Chevrolet‘s new model has a lot of comfort details such as seat and steering wheel heater, wireless connection and charger, 10.2″ touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, which have become common features in new Chevrolet models. Along with this, it includes a 462-liter trunk capacity.
