AMIVE Publishes Recommendations on Electromobility Provisions Submitted by the Energy Regulatory Commission

AMIVE

The Mexican Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles (AMIVE) expressed its reactions to the document published by the Energy Regulatory Commission regarding electromobility.

The document “Disposiciones Administrativas de Carácter General en Materia de Electromovilidad para la Integración de Infraestructura de Carga de Vehículos Eléctricos y Vehículos Eléctricos Híbridos Conectables al Sistema Eléctrico Nacional como Parte de una Red Eléctrica Inteligente” (General Administrative Provisions on Electromobility for the Integration of Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles and Hybrid Electric Vehicles Connectable to the National Electric System as Part of a Smart Grid) is currently undergoing a public consultation process on the agency’s platform.

According to AMIVE‘s official website, the Association recognized the efforts of the competent authorities to identify the regulatory needs of the sector, as well as to offer instruments to promote the healthy growth of electric mobility in the country.

In addition, it pointed out the instruments that should be developed soon to ensure an efficient decarbonization of transportation, including a package of policies and incentives that reflect the vision of the Mexican Government.

Recommendations

AMIVE recommended taking measures such as the definition of energy pricing schemes oriented to the EV user or VEHC, such as nighttime pricing at a reduced kWh price.

Similarly, the association shared the benefits that would be generated by the possibility of homologating a single connector (or two at most) for any public charging infrastructure, “in order to ensure the interoperability of our charging systems, and thus facilitate the development of a true smart grid that uses the available resources efficiently”.

Likewise, AMIVE‘s website refers to the sale of energy and raised the need to define additional schemes, with the objective of opening the market to new investors that would allow the expansion of the public charging infrastructure.

Finally, the Association and its affiliates highlighted the importance of strengthening the management capacity of entities such as the CRE, CENACE, CFE, among others, to implement regulations efficiently.
