Audi to Invest More than 1 Billion Dollars for Electromobility in Puebla

The German manufacturer Audi announced that it will invest approximately 1.08 billion dollars in the Mexican state of Puebla to carry out electromobility projects.

According to company data, Audi, part of the Volkswagen Group, has a plant in Mexico located in the Puebla town of San José Chiapa, where it has 5,000 employees, in addition to generating 20,000 indirect jobs.

Governor Sergio Salomón and the Executive President of Audi’s Mexican Unit, Tarek Mashhour, presided over the inauguration ceremony, held on Tuesday, where it was announced that the investment will represent the creation of 500 new jobs.

Governor Salomón also highlighted that in Puebla there is capacity and citizens who strengthen their talent thanks to the tools available to them, such as the Center for Specialization of High-Level Human Resources in the Automotive Industry (CERHAN).

For his part, Mashhour specified that the German company is pleased to have its plant in Puebla, and even more so now that the administration headed by Salomón is working with the company to make the state a center of national and international development, as well as a benchmark in electromobility.

Likewise, the Secretary of Economy, Ermilo Barrera Novelo, highlighted that Puebla has all the favorable conditions to be the big winner of the relocation of investments.

After a successful start to the year in Monterrey, Latam Mobility, the largest sustainable mobility community in Latin America, closes 2024 in Mexico City.

There will be two days, on October 15 and 16, where industry leaders and private sector representatives will provide perspectives on mobility, electromobility, sustainability, among others.
