Blink Charging: How to Use Charging Stations Properly?

With the aim of fostering a culture of sustainable mobility in Latin America, Blink Charging presents a series of guidelines for the use of charging stations.

The company considers it essential that Latin American cities adopt these standards to ensure a harmonious environment for both EV drivers and the community in general.

For Blink, the importance of following etiquette standards when charging an electrified car lies in promoting equality, efficient operations and positive experiences for all EV drivers.

10 guidelines

Blink explains to plan ahead and choose the right EV charger.

“Before heading to the charging station, it’s critical to know the specifications of your electric vehicle. Make sure you understand whether your car has direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC) only fast charging capability and familiarize yourself with the location of the charging port. This simple knowledge can save you time and hassle,” the company says.

The company points out that another premise isIequality in charging: all electric vehicles are welcome. “In the EV driving community, it is crucial to recognize that all models, whether plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) or with different battery capacities, have an equal right to use public chargers.”

Responsible Charging: No Parking, Only Recharging

Blink stresses that when using a public charging station, it is critical to practice responsible charging.

Park your car only when you need to recharge your EV and occupy only one charging space. Be sure to position yourself within the confines of the space to allow other drivers to access the charging station as well, especially if the charging point has multiple ports or adjacent chargers.”

Blink stresses that another important regulation is that when you arrive at an electroliner and find a line or all spaces occupied, it is important to wait your turn in an orderly fashion.

“Before plugging in your vehicle, do a brief check of the environment to make sure you don’t accidentally overtake other waiting EV drivers,” he notes.

Other aspects that Blink presents in its etiquette standards include charging time management, operation control, immediate disconnection, charging safety, conscious user and positive attitude when venturing into electromobility.
