Bosch Mexico to Produce Components to Boost Vehicle Electrification

Since 1955, Bosch has had an influential presence in the Mexican market expanding in most of the territory14 locations. The brand reached a sales volume of 2.7 billion dollars during 2020 and remains at the forefront in the presentation of sustainable mobility solutions.

To further strengthen its leadership, Bosch will increase production in Mexico of electronic control units for driving comfort, as well as components for powertrain electrification through the expansion of the Celaya (CeaP) plant.

The announcement represents an investment of 4.5 billion pesos and the creation of 1,500 new jobs over the next 7 years. Thus, Bosch Mexico intensifies its activities in the country by accumulating recent investments for almost 20 billion pesos in the automotive, household appliances and capital goods fields for the next 5 years.

Impressive Complex

Bosch plans to establish the manufacturing platform for cargo units for the North American market at its Celaya plant. The facility will double the area built for manufacturing space with this expansion of more than 20,000 square meters, which will make it a benchmark for the North American region in terms of scale and process automation.

In addition, Bosch is addressing climate change with sustainable building solutions at CeaP to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

The President of Bosch Mexico, René Schlegel pointed out that the country has great privileges in terms of its geographical and commercial position, at the same time that it has a human capital with high prestige worldwide. He affirmed that the combination of these elements allows them to better serve the market, which makes the country very attractive for the firm.

For his part, Sven Ost, member of the Bosch Automotive Electronics Division Board, emphasized that with the expansion they are responding to the strong demand for electronic components in the North American market.

“The decision to increase our capacities only two years after the start of operations in Celaya demonstrates the strategic importance of the site for the electrification of the powertrain,” he said.

With this initiative, Bosch Mexico takes another step forward in the transformation towards electromobility through innovation and technological tools.
