BYD Seeks to Lead Japanese Market with Three New Electric Cars

In the midst of the battle to dethrone Tesla from the place of honor in the sale of electric vehicles worldwide, BYD continues to present new models in different latitudes. The Chinese company intends to revolutionize the Japanese market with the launch of three electrified cars.

These are the BYD Atto, BYD Dolphin and BYD Seal, which will expand the manufacturer’s offer in Japan. According to the brand, the cars offer attributes such as a safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly driving experience.

The Most Technological

The BYD Seal is the most innovative of the three cars unveiled. It comes to the market in four versions. First, the rear-wheel drive models have a power output of 204 hp in the first level and 313 hp in the second. The latter has an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Both versions have a battery with a capacity of 61.44 kWh, which offers a range of 550 kilometers.

In addition to its 3.0 electronic platform, the Seal will be the first to feature the automaker’s Cell To Body (CTB) solution, which allows the battery to be integrated throughout the vehicle.

The CTB design offers a 66% increase in battery pack volume utilization, a 50% increase in structural safety against frontal crashes and more than 100% increase in body torsional rigidity compared to conventional frame designs.

Japanese Opportunities

BYD has Japan as one of its main markets to develop new technologies and bring each of its models. In this regard, the company’s president, Wang Chuanfu highlighted the commitment to the country.

He stressed that they have accumulated a good market and brand base through electric buses, energy storage systems, electric forklifts and other businesses.

“Today, with the support and expectation of consumers, BYD officially comes to the new energy passenger vehicle market in Japan. The longest journey begins with a single step, and we greatly appreciate this business opportunity. Full of respect and dedication, we are committed to providing Japanese consumers with leading technologies, excellent products and high-quality services, aiming to offer an exceptional travel experience,” said Chuanfu.
