BYD Yuan Vehicle Arrives to the Colombian EV Market

Chinese manufacturer BYD has had an important influence on the increase of the electric vehicle market in Colombia, which shows a significant rise in registrations.

During the first five months of 2021, 462 electric cars were registered. In 2022, the figure grew by 259.1%, reaching 1,659 zero emissions.

So far this year, BYD alone has registered 871 cars with these new technologies, to become the leading automotive company in this particular. Among the vehicles that have been launched in the market are public transport buses, vans and cars with sedan, hatchback and SUV bodies of different sizes.

A few weeks ago, the Asian company introduced the new BYD Yuan Pro in Colombia. It is an update of the well-known Yuan 400, focused on its performance level and the chemical and structural composition of its battery, although with certain aesthetic novelties.

Features

The new vehicle highlights in the front part a grille included with a chrome bocel that joins the main lights. It has a new main air intake and two small grilles to ventilate the brakes.

On the side are the new alloy wheels, 16-inch two-tone diamond. Inside, the dashboard plastics are in dark gray, and replaced the soft-touch surfaces with a brushed aluminum trim.

Safety features include curtain airbags, traction control (TCS), hill start assist (HAC), front parking sensors and 360° camera.

Power

The BYD Yuan has a range of 401 kilometers per charge, according to the NEDC cycle. Of this total, it is possible to recharge from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes on a GB DC 60 kW charger.

It has independent McPherson strut suspension at the front and a torsional element at the rear. The steering is electrically assisted, and the brakes are ventilated discs at the front and solid at the rear, with two regeneration modes.

It has a TZ180XCZ permanent magnet synchronous electric motor located on the front axle. It develops up to 134 hp of power (100 kW) at 12,100 rpm, while torque is 210 Nm.
