CEO of Autocab: “It is necessary an appropriate regulation of the infrastructure for the entry of vehicles zero emissions”

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, urban mobility has undergone considerable changes in its structure. Due to security measures, users now prefer to travel in less congested units, while corporate transport has taken a great boom. All this in order to avoid crowds.

Despite the changes, these scenarios have represented an opportunity for reinvention for Autocab, a company that has an advanced reservation and dispatch system, as well as an application for drivers and users, which have been ideal tools to face new demands of the sector.

The CEO of Autocab, Diego Pinzón, assured that despite the consequences caused by the global pandemic, the corporate transport market has been reactivated.

“The organizations try to guarantee the safety of their collaborators and comply with the protocols of distancing and health, this has multiplied the volume of reservations and consequently more vehicles have been added to the operation,” he said.

However, beyond the preferences when moving, Pinzón added that Autocab has noticed that the purchase decision and consumption habits by users have leaned towards sustainability, a factor that has been taken into account by the company that he represents.

“Transport operators have also had to reinvent their operations, even opening other customer service channels. This has contributed to more fleets having to include software solutions like ours in their processes; in addition to adding more functionalities and creating automated service channels,” were the words of Pinzón.

Pandemic: a favorable factor for Autocab

The needs and demands of the user have been key elements for the studies and developments of Autocab. According to Diego Pinzón, the pandemic allowed the promotion of reengineering and innovation: “We launched several products for the taxi and corporate transport fleets.

“Our interest is to minimize the traffic of a taxi or executive vehicle looking for a passenger, and for this the connection is very important. Fleets cannot operate individually, they need to globalize and connect with the different aggregators of services and ecosystems,” continued the director.

Advances in Colombia

Colombia will be the central axis of the “Latam Mobility Virtual Summit” event, and the coffee country is known for its great advances in the electrification of public transport and sustainable mobility in general. This has created a challenge for the short and medium term development of the future of Autocab.

“In Colombia we have many challenges and there is a real interest from users and drivers towards electromobility,” emphasized Pinzón, who at the same time said: “We have been advancing with a couple of fleets in the coffee region that already have electric vehicles. In other cities we are waiting for authorization from the administration.”

Despite the progress, Diego suggested that there is a disconnection on the part of government entities: “There is a need for appropriate regulation regarding infrastructure, connectors and barriers to the entry of vehicles zero emissions.”

“The will of the fleets, of the owners, of the drivers and of Autocab as a technological platform, is focused on promoting technological advancement and maximizing the connections that all fleets can have with each other. We are very much looking forward to the study of the Mining – Energy Planning Unit of Colombia so that the different entities can regulate and allow the way in the taxi and executive transport sector,” Diego Pinzón, CEO of Autocab.

It is important to highlight that Autocab will be part of the “Latam Mobility Virtual Summit: Colombia, Central America and the Caribbean”, a meeting that will bring together the main figures of sustainable mobility from the public and private sectors.

The event will serve as a space for the debate on regulations and advances that allow to lay the foundations of the transition towards a more sustainable mobility.
