Dominican Republic Takes a Step Forward in Electric Mobility with Uber and Evergo

Uber and Evergo have expanded and improved electric mobility in the Dominican Republic after teaming up to offer an optimized, high-standard service in Santo Domingo. The union between the two brands contemplates joint efforts to improve the way towards more sustainable means of transportation in order to reduce the impact of carbon footprint.

In this way, users who travel with the renowned mobile transportation application will be doing their bit by riding on an emission-free vehicle, thanks to Evergo’s willingness to put 20 vehicles from the corporate fleet on the streets during the initial phase of the alliance, with the clear objective of increasing the number of cars over the short term.

However, in addition to benefits for the planet and users, drivers also receive theirs, as they will be able to opt for the opportunity to acquire one of these vehicles at affordable prices, making the most of their profession, and most importantly, being part of the transition to a greener outlook.

Evergo’s parent company, Inter Energy Group, was pleased with this initiative which promises great results for the Dominican Republic, as Roberto Herrera, the Country Manager of the company, explained: “The company’s commitment is to facilitate the transition in our country towards a more sustainable mobility, offering the current and potential user of an electric vehicle the confidence they need to reach their destination, wherever it may be, thanks to a network numbering more than 350 charging stations distributed over the 32 provinces of the country, and 500 at regional level, with the objective of tripling this figure by the end of 2022.”

The objectives are clear: a “cleaner Dominican Republic”, and this step in partnership with one of the leading apps for transportation and mobilization will be possible. “… We join efforts to bring electric mobility in our country to a new development level, and thanks to a cutting-edge technology that puts us at the forefront among other countries in the region,” he continued.

On the other hand, Evergo is striving for a cleaner mobility, putting in the streets advanced charging stations through a unique ecosystem with more than 5,000 users. In addition, Santo Domingo will not be the only city, and Oscar San Martin, General Manager of the company, provided details on the matter.

“Our aspiration is that we can expand this alliance regionally, and encourage more driving partners to join this initiative to promote together a more sustainable mobility”.
