Enel Generacion Chile to Electrify the Movistar Arena

Enel Generacion Chile will supply energy to the Movistar Arena, one of the venues with the largest number of shows and ticket sales in the world.

The agreement, equivalent to 3.4 GWh/year, will enable the more than 150 shows per year that the traditional complex located in the Ohiggins Park hosts.

Besides, it contemplates an energy audit in charge of Enel X, which will allow detecting opportunities to implement energy efficiency solutions that contribute to improve the operation of the Movistar Arena facilities, generating savings, and reducing its CO2e emissions, turning it into one of the most sustainable show venues in the country.

Big Step to Clean Energy

Alfredo Hott, Manager of Energy and Commodity Management, Enel Generación, pointed out that they are increasingly able to present competitive and sustainable offers and establish new alliances.

“We make this clear by being the first operator of renewable energies in Chile, with more than a thousand clients, and the first company to close all its coal-fired thermal power plants”, he pointed out.

For his part, Alex Rebolledo, General Manager of Movistar Arena, explained that they chose Enel because it is the largest energy supplier in the country.

“We are experts in entertainment and they are experts in energy. We seek to take advantage of that experience to apply it to this venue, which is more than 50 years old and needs to remain at the forefront”, he explained.

“An important part of this collaboration also has to do with energy efficiency consulting. Today the world must be more sustainable and we also want to move in that direction. From this alliance we hope to take advantage of all those formulas that are beneficial for the environment”, he commented.

Movistar Arena and the companies of the Enel Group subscribe the commitment to advance together towards a sustainable development, considering the current environmental context, where renewable energies become a fundamental tool to fight climate change.

In this sense, Claudio Candia, Enel X’s Business and Industry Manager, said that an alliance with a high development potential is born, where the same vision converges to achieve sustainability and start the decarbonization process of the Movistar Arena’s facilities, electrifying its operation by incorporating solutions based on renewable energies”.

Promoting decarbonization and energy transition through the incorporation of clean energies has not been a foreign activity for Enel Generación Chile and Enel X, since 2021 they have forged several alliances seeking to reduce the environmental impact and promote responsible and respectful practices with the environment, always through an integrated offer.
