Evergo and Volkswagen launched their first charging center for electric vehicles on the Mexico City to Querétaro highway.

The project’s goal is to increase the number of these centers to 15 in the next two years.

According to local press reviews, the stations are available for all brands of the German group, including Porsche, Cupra, Audi and Volkswagen, on the passenger side, as well as for Volkswagen commercial vehicles.

Each of these centers has six chargers; three will be exclusive to the vehicles of these brands. Two types of chargers are available: semi-fast chargers up to 50 kW and fast chargers up to 150 kW. Although, depending on market requirements, this capacity may increase.

Daniel Lopez, CCO of Evergo, told local media Expansión that everything being built is scalable. “We are prepared for the next 10 years for when vehicles can receive 200, 300, 400, 500 or 600 kW, we simply make the adjustments to the power units and we can give them that service”.

With all the equipment, this type of centers on highways cost between 15 and 20 million Mexican pesos. In urban areas, it ranges between 12 and 15 million pesos.

Through its high technology, Evergo designed an application for each of the automakers, with which it will be possible to reserve a charger before arriving.
