Governor of Santander: “Yes to Sustainability without Compromising the Economic Stability”

The public sector played a key role in “Latam Mobility: Colombia 2024” with the participation of the Governor of the Department of Santander, Juvenal Díaz, who spoke about initiatives in sustainable mobility or other aspects referring to his administration.

“We are working for sustainability. We must try to maintain the petrochemical industry that in the case of Bermeja there is no pollution and generates employment with refactoring,” he said.

The Regional President emphasized working hard for sustainability, however, he pointed out that efforts must be made without compromising the economic stability of the department.

“We have to improve the department’s income, we depend on the general participation system sent to us by the national government and we must also be economically sustainable,” he stressed.

Projects

Governor Díaz pointed out that they are developing initiatives such as sustainable tourism and take advantage of the potential of that line of business to attract large investments and financing for Santander.

“We will work on solar panels, we are going to make fields, it is a solution, but not the ideal one. That is why we are targeting hydroelectric power plants and we want to encourage and invite investors to help us in the department to promote new practices,” he explained.
