Latam Mobility Colombia: Celsia, Enel, EPM and ICE to Share Ideas on Sustainable Mobility Opportunities for Energy Companies

On June 8 and 9, Latam Mobility Colombia will be held in the city of Medellin, a meeting in which representatives of the public and private sectors will exchange ideas, proposals and strategies to promote sustainable mobility in the country and the region.

The second day of the event will feature the panel “Sustainable Mobility: The Great Opportunity for Energy Companies”, with the participation of leading companies and institutions such as Celsia Energía, Enel, ICE and EPM, whose representatives will present their initiatives in this area.

Beyond the challenging challenges posed by the energy transition to sustainable mobility, the path of opportunities is even greater for companies, governments and civil society in general, which will have new business vision, efficiency and an important contribution to the environment and health of citizens.

In Colombia, the National Strategy for Sustainable Mobility has been developed for some years now, to encourage the use of zero-emission vehicles, with the purpose of reducing greenhouse gases and improving air quality.

Companies and Institutions Contribute to the Strategy

Celsia makes a great contribution to industries that want to opt for sustainable electric mobility, generating savings in the maintenance and operation of its fleet of vehicles, reducing CO2 emissions and contributing to cleaner spaces with less noise.

For its part, the Italian group Enel has been promoting sustainable mobility in Colombia for several years. In 2014, the company implemented the first pilot plan of 40 fully electric cabs, becoming at that time the largest public transport fleet in Latin America.

The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE), will also make up the Latam Mobility Colombia panel to expose all its expertise in mobility issues. In December 2018, the institution began the process of changing its vehicle fleet, with the incorporation of 100 electric vehicles.

The balance presented in 2020 indicated savings of more than $87,000, due to the fact that it did not need to purchase 92,000 liters of fuel or the lubricants that are necessary for the operation of combustion engines.

The EPM Group, one of the pioneers in Colombia’s energy transition, has made great commitments to sustainable mobility, both electric and natural gas, which is a major challenge for cities.

The company has facilitated the massification and use of electric and gas vehicles, working hand in hand with the public sector to encourage it to generate greater incentives for the renewal of the vehicle fleet.
