Mexico, Chile and Colombia: Key Targets for Blink Charging’s Expansion

At the end of 2022, Blink Charging announced a partnership with the 100% clean energy vehicle app “Citybestapp” to install new charging points and accelerate electric mobility in Chile and Mexico.

The project is progressing significantly in both countries, and additional chargers will be deployed in Colombia starting in March 2023.

Working with Citybest, Blink is poised to build an electric vehicle charging ecosystem to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in major cities in Mexico, Chile and Colombia as spearheads, but has other countries in the region on the agenda.

Applied Technology

The new Blink MQ 200 Level 2 charger planned to be installed in Mexico helps make electric vehicle charging more accessible to drivers at destination locations.

Blink detailed in a press release that the device is well-equipped for multi-car locations with a fast 50-amp output and effortless user experience.

It offers 4G and WiFi connectivity, Smart Grid technology for direct communication with local utilities, local load management for two or more chargers to share power from a single circuit.

Chile Equipment

The scheduled installation in Chile is the recently launched Blink EQ 200 Level 2 charger.

With up to 50 amps of output, the three-phase AC charger is a smart, affordable and scalable charging solution that adapts to any location with its compact design.

Both chargers focus on delivering efficiency and smart scalability with growth in mind with supporting technologies such as Plug & Charge (ISO 15118) functionality that allows any vehicle with this capability to start the charger instantly after plugging in, OCPP 2.0 and two-way charging (V2G).

Michael D. Farkas, President and CEO of Blink Charging, noted that the alliance generates great motivation within the company. “We are excited to collaborate with Citybest on this electric ecosystem that provides a valuable service and encourages greater adoption of electric vehicles in Mexico and throughout Latin America.”

“With the electric vehicle population in the region expected to grow to an estimated 1.2 million by 2030, strategic partnerships such as these are essential to support this exponential growth and serve EV drivers everywhere,” he said.
