Mobi to Lead Sustainable Mobility Plan in Paraguay

Since 2022, Paraguay has been accelerating the adoption of electromobility at all levels. For several months, the country has been receiving advice from Korean experts to implement actions leading to the energy transition.

A few days ago, Asunción authorities announced an agreement with the Bolivian company Mobi Latam to establish a pilot plan for sustainable mobility in the country’s capital.

In principle, three types of 100% electric mobiles (skateboards, bicycles and motorcycles) will be available to the public. Through an application, people aged 18 and older will be able to link to the app and also add a digital means of payment.

Interconnection

With the installation of some 15 stations, the transport system will connect four capital neighborhoods: Villa Morra, La Recoleta, Las Lomas and Las Mercedes, attractive areas for their gastronomic offers and shopping malls.

The cost of the rental service, to be provided exclusively by the Bolivian company, will be per minute or through monthly or annual plans.

This trial period of the sustainable mobility plan, which will last throughout the month of March, will be used to evaluate the market and learn about the habits of Asunción’s citizens.

The authorities of the municipality emphasized that the interest is to expand the coverage area and reach the center and the Costanera of Asunción.

The Paraguayan capital lacks alternatives for getting around the city other than fossil fuel vehicles, so this project is a sustainable and attractive option to offer citizens.

Mobi Project

Specifically in the Paraguayan capital, MOBI plans to launch more than 150 scooters, mechanical and electric bicycles and electrified motorcycles.

This will be a milestone for Bolivia, as it will become an exporter of hardware and software technology, taking a shared micromobility system based on solar energy beyond its borders.

It should be noted that all the startup’s batteries are produced in the same format and are interchangeable between its different vehicles.
