Nissan Steps Up Electrification Plans, Pledges 27 Vehicles by 2030

As part of its “Ambition 2030” strategy, Nissan accelerated its electrification plans by increasing its offer in the short and medium term.

By 2026, the brand expects that 44% of its global sales will carry a type of electric technology and dividing it by market, it is believed that in Europe it will rise to 98%, while in Japan it will reach 58%, in the United States 40% and in China 35%.

Specifically, there will be 27 new electrified models, including 19 new EVs by fiscal year 2030, which is expected to have an increase of more than 55% globally compared to the previous forecast of 50%.

The updated plan for the next decade is to increase the range of all-electric vehicles from 15 to 19 models and increase the “electrification mix” by only 5% in the previous plan to 55%.

Announcement Focus

Through a statement, Nissan says it aims to “expand the possibilities of mobility to society by providing experiences that inspire confidence and excitement, and enable closer connections between people and society at large.”

They explained that through hard work they will further promote the democratization of electric vehicles and electric power models, to meet the needs of individual markets, improve the competitiveness of development and manufacturing globally, and further accelerate the electrification strategy to achieve Nissan Ambition 2030.

The Roadmap

In 2021, the Japanese brand presented the referred Ambition 2030, with which it seeks to become one of the most powerful firms in this area. It aspires to become a truly sustainable company, driving its actions towards a cleaner, safer and more inclusive world.
