Polish Company Enters Chilean Electromobility Market

The National Electromobility Strategy, as well as other incentives have opened the doors for international companies to see Chile as the gateway to Latin America to promote sustainable mobility.

Through the Chilean-Polish Chamber, the company Melex, which has its base office in the city of Krakow, will start operations in the South American country for the sale of electric cars.

Melex has extensive experience in the manufacture of electrified models and is a supplier to 36 countries in Europe, Asia, North America and South Africa. The firm even has green hydrogen buses, but for the moment they are not available to enter Latin America.

Through a key association between a group of businessmen, Nexus Mobility was born, entity that represents the Poles in Chilean territory. In this sense, the CEO of the company, Oliver Molgas, emphasized that the focus is to have the representation of Polish brands in electromobility, and from Chile to enter other markets such as Peru, Colombia and Mexico.

The Commercial Director, Germán Oyarzún, explained that the advantage of Melex is that they have a portfolio of 50 vehicles, but that it is a brand that presents a large number of alternatives.

“The Poles have been building electric cars for a long time and even have a durability schedule that allows you to detect at what minute you have to replace parts because a failure is coming,” he explained.

Project Credit Letter

The spearhead of the initiative in Chile are two electric vehicles that can carry loads ranging from 250 kilos to a maximum of 500 kilos, with an autonomy of 250 km/hour. This allows a retailer to drive four times from the Pudahuel sector to Las Condes, without needing to recharge the battery during the day.

According to Molgas, the Melex proposal arrives in Chile to satisfy a segment that is not covered, because the direct competition of these vehicles supports levels that correspond to the minimum load of the Polish units, and then the next model are pick-up trucks, whose cost is much higher.

The European company’s models have a price starting at $ 27,000,000 and their dimensions are 1.60 meters and up to 3 meters long.

Supply Options

In addition to the presentation of electric vehicles, Melex’s offer also includes charging infrastructure. According to Molgas, the charger system uses the “idle capacity” of the electrical connection of buildings and houses, which prevents recharging from implying a higher cost for the user.

The executive assured that for less than $1,000 it will be possible to recharge car batteries for a range of 250 km.
