Presenting a Plan to Improve Mobility in the State of Mexico

Authorities of the government of the State of Mexico presented the Colibrí Mobility Plan, with which they seek to improve public transportation conditions, safety and connectivity.

The Secretary of Mobility of the government of the State of Mexico, Daniel Sibaja González, announced that the program has 10 priority axes in which it is important to put order in transportation, since there are more than 400,000 irregular units.

It also seeks to guarantee safety in transportation, implement a single mobility card in the state and unify it with Mexico City and a new Mexicable line in the Naucalpan area.

Sibaja pointed out that the 10 axes include 100 actions to change the face and improve mobility in the state.

He emphasized that one of the axes is the transformation of public transportation where order will be put in the concessions and the units will be regularized because currently there are 600,000 public transportation units in the state and only 168,000 have concessions.

“An order will be established through the law and it will no longer be through a gazette, but it will be well established in the mobility law so that there will be no doubts or extortion,” he said.

“We are going to give the carriers the opportunity to regularize themselves, but once January 12 of next year has passed and there are clear guidelines there will be no margin, we will apply the law and those who have their concession will be respected and helped, and those who operate without a concession will not be allowed to do so”, he said.

He pointed out that another of the actions is to guarantee the safe transportation of users with special operations that will be carried out with the Attorney General’s Office and the Security Secretariat; to establish an anti-corruption hotline where attention will be given to complaints of extortion and corruption.

He informed that a new Mexicable line will be built, which will run from Naucalpan to the Cuatro Caminos Modal Transfer Center, along 8 kilometers and that a bidding process will be launched soon.

He also announced that a Metromex transportation system will be implemented, the Santa Martha-Chalco Trolleybus will be completed, which will strengthen mobility in the eastern part of the state, and the “Colibrí on Wheels” bicycle lane network will be expanded in the valleys of Mexico and Toluca.
