Quito Exempts Electric Vehicles from 100% of Parking Fees

The Municipality of Quito, Ecuador, will implement an innovative initiative to promote sustainable mobility.

Starting this November, owners of electric cars will benefit from a 100% exemption on parking fees.

According to El Comercio, this measure, in compliance with current national regulations, seeks to encourage the use of electric vehicles and contribute to a cleaner environment in Quito.

Steps to Follow

To access this benefit, users must follow a simple procedure. When entering a parking lot, it is necessary to take a ticket.

Upon exiting, drivers must present the ticket along with the vehicle’s license plate at the collection point.

This process ensures that only electric cars access the exemption, thus guaranteeing proper use of the system.

In spaces designated as Blue Zone, users will also be able to benefit from the exemption.

The maximum time allowed for parking in these areas is two hours, which allows for efficient management of public space and facilitates access for drivers of electric cars.

The differentiated rates will apply every day, including holidays, reflecting a proactive approach to sustainability and the well-being of citizens.
