Schneider Electric Installs Free Charging Points at Shopping Malls in Argentina

Argentina registers a significant growth in the registration of electric vehicles, only in 2022 3,453 low-emission cars were patented, according to data from the Online Information System of the Automotive Market of Argentina (SIOMAA).

Given this scenario, it is essential to implement a massive and efficient charging network to meet the demand. In this regard, Schneider Electric, one of the leading companies in energy management and automation, installed for the first time free electric car chargers in the main shopping malls in Argentina with the support of Intermepro, a partner company in Latin America in Renewable Energy systems.

Shopping malls are strategic points for the installation of this type of chargers, taking into account that the transit areas are one of the most frequent charging sites.

Among the shopping malls where these chargers will be located are DOT Baires Shopping, Distrito Arcos and Alto Palermo, in Buenos Aires, Alto Comahue in Neuquén and Alto Rosario in the province of Santa Fe. These 5 malls are owned by IRSA.

High Technology

Regarding the innovation used, Damián Lopez Gentile, Channel Manager and Digital Transformation Leader of Schneider Electric, explained that they are EVlink chargers, which have the highest safety standards, are reliable and have the Greem Premium certification, guaranteeing the lowest environmental impact during their manufacturing process up to the final deposition.

He assured that the devices have the best quality in the market and are suitable to work in any electric car. “From Schneider Electric we provide consulting services for the design and preparation of the installations, and we provide all the necessary products to deploy the charging infrastructure,” he added.

Targets Set

Schneider Electric aims to switch 100% of its fleet to electric vehicles by 2030 in Argentina. It is also promoting delivery for short distances in electric vehicles.

On this aspect, Gentile pointed out that a decisive point when choosing between an electric vehicle and a combustion one is the number of charging stations that exist, since charging stations for electric cars are still not so common.

With this initiative, the aim is to change the situation in favor of the use and purchase of “eco-friendly” cars and to chart a greener future.
