Tesla to Expand Charger Facility in Mexico

Tesla’s investment throughout Mexico continues to expand significantly. The leading company in the sale of electric vehicles announced that in a month chargers could be in operation in public buildings in Querétaro.

The project will be carried out as a result of the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Sustainable Development (SEDESU) and the company Tesla, said Mauricio Reyes Caracheo, head of the State Energy Agency.

The official specified that these equipment will be fast charging, from two to three hours and will not have a cost for the users. In addition, they will supply electric current to the State buildings.

Locations

Reyes detailed that they expect to start soon the location of the charging points. “We already have it defined and the load that will be required. We have already determined all the technical aspects. We are already working on the administrative aspects, so we are talking about a month to put it in place,” he added.

Some of the points where there will be chargers, according to Reyes Caracheo, are the Queretaro Congress Center (QCC), the Jose Maria Arteaga Auditorium and the Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez Auditorium; as well as Queretaro 2000, the Aeronautical University, Polytechnic University and the State Normal School.

Reyes Caracheo ruled out that the use of these chargers will significantly increase the cost of electric energy for the State, since there are not yet a considerable number of vehicles of this type.

“I don’t see a major problem initially. When we see a significant number, then we will take some other measure (…) as we see the increase and the use, we will try to install more”, he pointed out.
