New Beat VP Promises to Position Company as Leading Mobility App in Latin America

Beat’s success and positive reception in Latin America has led it to boost expansion in the region and to make key moves to improve operations in the region. The company, headquartered in Athens, Greece, is dedicated to the development of mobile applications to facilitate the interconnection of users seeking to move around cities.

The company has appointed Hans Hanckes as its new VP for Latin America. The executive has extensive experience in digital business such as e-commerce, omnichannel strategies, digital transformation, agile methodologies, and management consulting.

Since 2020, he has served as General Manager of Beat in Chile, is an Industrial Civil Engineer by profession, and has extensive experience in the Technology, Retail and Construction industries.

Achievements and Plans

The appointment of Hanckes aims to strengthen Beat’s commitment to Latin America by designing ideal mobility services and, in turn, continue to generate knowledge as a brand that develops technology to make electromobility increasingly accessible in the region.

In the short term, the intention is to double the impact of the platform in the markets where it operates by continuing to be an option for generating extra income for driver-users. The company also intends to continue providing its customers with safety features that support each trip and more mobility options for passengers that meet their needs.

We are a company that stands out for our hyperlocality in the region, which has been the main axis for implementing solutions that meet the needs of the five markets where we operate. Beat Zero and Beat Tesla, our electromobility services with hired drivers and a private fleet of 100% electric vehicles available in Mexico, Colombia and Chile, is a clear example of this,” said Hanckes.

“I take on this new challenge reaffirming the commitment with which I arrived at Beat two years ago, to become Latin America’s favorite mobility app. We will continue working to deliver solutions of value and impact that generate additional profits for people and improve the way users move around the region’s megacities,” he said.

Rich Resume

Throughout his career, between 2017 and 2018, Hanckes was CEO of Groupon. He worked in this company for six years, a period in which he held various positions, such as Director of Operations for Latin America and Asia Pacific; Country Manager for Colombia, Peru and Panama.

He also served as Digital Manager at Cencosud (2018-2020), as well as Head of Business Development, and Head of Planning and Sales. Prior to this, he held the position of Head of Business Development at Atheneum Partners (2010-2012), and innovation and entrepreneurship advisor at the Ministry of Economy of Chile (2010).

A Lady Assumes the Management Role

Hanckes’ promotion also represented a succession from the previous position. In this regard, Beat reported that Patricia Jebsen, General Manager for Beat Argentina since 2019, will replace Hanckes, taking over as General Manager for both Southern Cone countries.

Jebsen’s experience in the e-commerce industry was fundamental in the launch of the application in Argentina, while she focused on developing local operations.
