Enel X Way was an official smart charging sponsor for Extreme E during the fourth race of the season held in Antofagasta, Chile, supplying 12 Juice Pump 50 race edition chargers for each of the teams in the series dedicated to raising awareness about climate change.
Extreme E is an electric off-road vehicle racing category that, beyond racing, is dedicated to raising awareness about the devastating consequences of climate change. In addition, they do not race just anywhere, as their visits are concentrated in places affected in some way by this phenomenon.
In the case of Chile, the race was called Copper X Prix and was held in the Atacama Desert from September 24 to 25, one of the driest places on Earth. The importance of copper in the transition to electric mobility was also highlighted due to its constant use in the manufacture of car batteries.

Enel X Way: Key Player
Enel X Way provided the necessary charging infrastructure for this competition to take place. “For this race, which is being run for the first time in Chile, a total of 12 Juice Pump chargers were available, one for each of the participating teams (10 in total) and two more in the control tent. The chargers are capable of charging up to 50 kW and thus providing clean energy throughout the race,” said Jean Paul Zalaquett, general manager of Enel X Way.
He also highlighted the company’s desire to boost electromobility, asserting that categories such as Extreme E are perfect tools for this. “100% electric cars, in one of the most arid deserts in the world, generating awareness,” he continued.
