Huawei Shakes Up the Market with a Fast, Low-Cost “Supercharger

The electromobility market has aroused the interest of large companies worldwide, not only because of its sustainable approach, but also because of the great technological innovations and openness to new business models.

Huawei is one of the brands that is entering this field, with the aim of integrating digital technologies and intelligent electronics in the energy transformation process.

In this sense, they have developed equipment and solutions for smart charging of electric vehicles. In this area, the company focuses on the development of DC fast charging modules for infrastructures and continues to increase its offer.

A few weeks ago, Huawei announced that it is working on a two-wire supercharger, which delivers a nominal voltage of 1,000 V and 250 A current. For its part, the total rated output power is 360 kW (180 kW per line).

The Chinese company also manufactures the 600 kW supercharger that will be the top of its range, of which it already has a prototype. The nameplate mounted on Huawei’s Fusion Charger has dimensions of 295/340/1700 mm. In addition, the charging cable measures 3.5 m and is liquid-cooled.

These are compatible with the Chinese CC2015 fast charging standard, which have an output voltage between 200 and 1,000 volts. While its current intensity is 600 A.

In that sense, such power makes the Huawei charger the fastest of those available on the market. And is that it exceeds the 500 kW of the last Power Charge launched by NIO in December 2022.

In addition, it is superior to Xpeng’s S4, which reaches 480 kW. Meanwhile, it measures equal with Tesla‘s V4 superchargers, which deliver ultimate power of up to 600 kW.

Thus, the Huawei charger could deliver 100 kWh in just 10 minutes, so it would recover the energy of a battery of this capacity in a fairly short time. It is noteworthy that a car with a battery of this size could have a range of up to 600 km.
