BYD Partners with Uber to Introduce 100,000 Cars in Latin America and Europe

BYD has partnered with Uber to introduce 100,000 of its electric cars to the cab platform. The partnership will start in Europe and Latin America, with plans to expand to the Middle East, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

According to statements from Uber and BYD, the main objective of the new partnership is to accelerate the electrification of the transportation app, a challenge that Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi already acknowledged earlier this year as “complicated.”

Uber and BYD will offer drivers lower prices for vehicles and financing, discounts on battery recharges, maintenance, insurance, and leases.

Both companies hope to address the shortage of affordable and functional electric vehicles for Uber drivers.

In addition to Uber’s electrification, the two firms will collaborate on the development of future models with autonomous driving technology.

“BYD and Uber are teaming up to make green transportation accessible to Europe and Latin America,” the statement released by the companies maintains.

Chuanfu Wang, President and CEO of BYD, noted that Uber and BYD share a commitment to innovate for a cleaner, greener world. “I am excited to work together to achieve that future,” he said.

Coverage in Chile and Latam Mobility’s presence in the Southern Cone

Chile remains one of the leading countries in Latin America in promoting the transition to electric mobility. BYD has been a key player in promoting the use of electrified cars in the southern country.

The company already has the BYD Yuan in Chile, a new model that combines design, technology, and efficiency, offering an attractive alternative for those seeking an electric vehicle without sacrificing performance.

After the success of models such as the Tang and Han, the brand has presented the new Yuan Pro, a 100% electric SUV designed to meet the needs of a public increasingly interested in sustainable mobility.

In this context, on August 27 and 28, Latam Mobility & Conosur 2024 will be held in Santiago de Chile, a meeting that will bring together the most important companies and leaders linked to energy, transportation, fuels, and mobility, to show the progress and prospects of the industry in the country and the region.

The summit will feature a series of panels and thematic presentations that play a stellar role in the advancement of sustainable mobility, decarbonization, circular economy, and renewable energies, as well as outstanding networking for the formation of key alliances on the road to zero emissions.
