To foster transparency and accelerate information exchange, the Ministry of Transport of Brazil enacted Ordinance No. 595/2024, resulting from a collaboration with the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT).
The new regulation sets guidelines for information exchange between agencies, facilitating the monitoring of works and projects. It also reinforces the Ministry’s open data policy.
According to Gabriela Avelino, Undersecretary of Development and Planning at the Ministry of Transport, the new directive will allow for strategic use of data to make more accurate decisions. This advancement marks a milestone in governance and integrity policy.

The ordinance offers several key benefits, including data integration and standardization, the implementation of centralized and computerized systems, greater transparency in management, and continuous and accessible information updates, in favor of sustainable mobility and improvement.
“The ordinance institutionalizes rules and mechanisms for the exchange of information throughout the design, execution, and monitoring of national transportation policies for roads, railways, and transit, making it more efficient,” said Gabriela Avelino.
“These data will support long-term infrastructure planning and facilitate the process of formulating public policies for the sector, directly benefiting citizens,” she concluded.
