Argentina Prepares Electromobility Law

The Argentine Chamber of Electric and Alternative Vehicles and Autoparts (Cavea) is working to implement the first law to promote electromobility in the country.

Emmanuel Nuñez, President of Cavea, explained that there is a very important sector in Argentina, which includes several entrepreneurs who want to invest in electric mobility.

“Today there is a fleet of around 70,000 plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, in addition to a network of 300 chargers, between fast, slow and intermediate charging. It is an interesting fleet,” according to statements reviewed in El Cronista.

However, he warned that the challenge is the lack of political decision. “We are working on the first electromobility promotion regime to boost the activity in the country, taking the example of Brazil or Chile.”

The Experts’ Voice

Alejandro Gottig, a specialist in Electric Mobility, indicated to El Cronista that there is an international consensus, especially from the international commitments of countries and companies to decarbonize the different activities of mankind.

“One of them is the transportation sector and electric mobility is one of the solutions to go towards zero emissions within the range of energies needed for the transition,” he said.

“In the long term, we all have to go there. Equally, it all depends on the different capabilities of countries, budgets and available resources. Therefore, there will be different speeds and possibilities for transition,” he stressed.
