Electric mobility in Latin America is gaining momentum as a key strategy to decarbonize transport, improve public health, and foster sustainable development.
These efforts will take the spotlight at Latam Mobility & Net Zero Colombia 2025, held June 4–5 at Medellín’s Orquideorama in the Botanical Garden.
Regional leaders driving the transformation
Cities like Bogotá and Medellín are leading the charge in electric mobility in Latin America, supported by national policies and innovative funding mechanisms.

Multilateral banks such as the World Bank and IDB have committed over USD 5.7 billion to boost electric transport systems across the region.
This support enables not only investment in clean vehicles and infrastructure but also strengthening the professionalism of public transit operators and improving urban air quality.
Medellín to host a transformative summit
The Latam Mobility Summit will gather over 900 stakeholders from public and private sectors to shape the future of electric mobility in Latin America.
High-level participants, including Colombia’s Minister of Transport María Fernanda Rojas Mantilla, will address key topics such as zero-emissions logistics, smart infrastructure, and public policy.

Dedicated spaces like the “Matchmaking Hub” will foster strategic alliances, while live demonstrations will showcase the latest electric vehicle technologies and smart city innovations.
Cooperation is key to electric mobility in Latin America
As regional progress continues, one thing is clear: funding alone is not enough. Electric mobility in Latin America depends on multisectoral collaboration across energy, transportation, environment, and labor institutions.
Moreover, the spotlight is shifting toward mid-sized cities, where electric mobility in Latin America can maximize its impact on equity, efficiency, and local development.
