BYD Delivered to Mexico the Largest Fleet of Tractor Trucks Outside of China

China’s leadership in electromobility is transcending to other latitudes. The Asian country is surpassing all records and projections for electric vehicle sales in 2022.

Chinese companies are taking advantage of their experience and high technological level to expand their innovations to Latin America. One of them is Build Your Dreams (BYD), which is carrying out important operations in Mexico.

On October 5, the manufacturer delivered the first order for purely electric tractor-trailers in Mexico.

The units supplied by BYD to its partner Marva will represent the largest fleet of electric tractor-trailers outside China, according to Xinhua news agency.

BYD’s Q3MA model, delivered to Mexican firm Transportes Marva, has advanced technology in its lithium ferro-phosphate batteries and offers a range of 240 kilometers with a single recharge.

Transportes Marva expects to reach a fleet of 120 units, in what is considered “a milestone” for heavy load electromobility in Mexico and will help reduce nearly 33,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere.

BYD‘s agreement adds to the presence of Chinese companies such as Yutong and CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive, which collaborate with the Government of Mexico City, the country’s capital, in the process of modernizing local transportation towards clean energies.

Commitment to Mexico Continues

The General Manager of BYD Mexico, Zou Zhou, pointed out that the Chinese firm intends to take advantage of technological innovations to offer a better life and build a greener community.

“In the future, BYD will continue to introduce the latest technological innovations in the Mexican market,” explained the Chinese executive in a speech at the Expo Transportes 2022 event, which took place between October 5 and 7 in the Mexican city of Puebla.

Zhou said that they hope to establish more collaborations that will improve the planet and enable new technologies to be added.

For his part, the Marva Group’s CEO, Miguel Angel Martinez, explained that after a thorough and extensive study, the Mexican firm chose BYD as its partner, due to its recognized quality and its presence in the American continent.

“Electromobility is already present in the world and I am convinced that more players are coming, not only from Asia but from other continents and Mexico is ready to be able to walk together,” he added.

Mobility Summit in Mexico

Precisely in Mexico, the Chinese manufacturer BYD will be part of the “Latam Mobility: Mexico 2022”, a meeting to be held on October 11 and 12 that will bring together the most prestigious companies worldwide and representatives of the public sector to promote sustainable mobility in the country and the region.

The event to be held at the World Trade Center in Mexico City will address interesting topics related to electromobility, sustainability, decarbonization of the transportation sector, financing, charging infrastructure, among others.
