BYD Hits Seven Million Plug-in Hybrids Produced

BYD became the first manufacturer to reach seven million plug-in hybrids produced worldwide, consolidating its leadership in new energy vehicles on a global scale.

The unit that made it possible to reach this figure is a DENZA N7, the 100% electric crossover of BYD’s premium division, manufactured at the factory in Jinan (China).

The record comes just seven months after it announced another important one, as the only brand to manufacture five million plug-in hybrids.

BYD reached production of its first million plug-in vehicles in May 2021 and tripled this figure in just 18 months, then surpassed 5 million units in the following 9 months.

Historic Ascent

By 2023, BYD‘s cumulative annual sales increased to 3.02 million units, leading global plug-in vehicle sales. Its models also managed to occupy the top position in the sales rankings of their respective segments.

At the Geneva Motor Show, BYD presented what will be the brand’s first plug-in hybrid in Europe.

Developed on the basis of the BYD Seal, the PHEV will debut in the Old Continent the new technology called Super Dual Model (Super DM).

For the moment, little information is known about this model. From the brand advance that achieves high performance with low fuel consumption and a “virtually silent driving”.

The mechanical part will be powered by a Blade Battery and will have the option of ultra-fast charging, to recover up to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes, something unusual in the segment.
