Copec Voltex Strengthens Commitment to Electromobility at the “Latam Mobility: ConoSur 2023” event

Copec Voltex

Copec Voltex, a company dedicated to the electric vehicle charger segment, was present at the “Latam Mobility: ConoSur 2023” meeting with a special presentation by Francis David, the company’s Commercial Assistant Manager.

In his presentation, David indicated that Copec Voltex promotes the development of sustainable mobility through its charging solutions that position it as the third most innovative company in Latin America, thanks to the most extensive fast charging network in the region, which includes residential chargers and a comprehensive and personalized service.

“One of the ways to make a diagnosis of how a country is prepared for electromobility is by looking at its progress in charging infrastructure. Public charging is going to be a necessity and opportunity because most of the usual charges are going to be in homes and workplaces, but public charging has the role of giving certainty to users that they are going to be able to charge where and when they require it, to knock down that entry barrier,” he said.

The Chilean Example

In relation to the Chilean current situation, the Copec Voltex representative explained that Chile is well positioned in its indicators. “The world average says that for every 10 light electric vehicles there is a public charging point, and the country has a ratio that for every five there is a public charging point, practically double the world average.”

In addition, David pointed out that the country is not only well positioned in electric chargers, but also in the power indicator segment, with an installed power of 4.5 kilowatts in public charging per light electric vehicle, and is only below South Korea in this area.

“Chile is quite well positioned at the level of metrics of number of chargers and power, although there is still progress to be made, because it is not only a question of quality, it is also a question of quality standards and interoperability standards,” he assured.

Progress at Copec Voltex

Copec Voltex has made a significant categorical contribution with its most extensive cargo network in Latin America. We already have more than 1,800 kilometers connected with 180 kilowatt chargers so that charging time is a reasonable matter, and so that the user can charge his vehicle or a significant percentage of it in just 15 minutes,” said David.

The executive pointed out that in addition to the charging points at service stations, they have 150 public charging points in spaces outside the station.

In addition, users have the Copec app. “It is a whole digital experience that has more than two million users, and in a couple of weeks, that experience will be available to electromobility customers, where they will be able to enable Voltex chargers with the Copec app.”

Public Transportation

The Copec Voltex executive explained that Chile has more than 2,000 electric buses operating in public transport, which represents 31% of the total fleet in Santiago, making the city the second largest fleet outside Chile. And the goal is more ambitious: 100% emission-free public transport by 2040.

“These advances generate important incentives from the point of view of environmental benefits, since they mitigate more than 300,000 tons of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to what is absorbed by 15 million trees per year,” he said.

In relation to particulate matter emissions, David indicated that this is considerably reduced compared to a diesel-powered terminal. “It is very important especially for the neighbors who live near a terminal, as well as in the reduction of noise, since the sound power decreases 50%, which influences in an improvement of the quality of life.”

Finally, Francis David said that Copec Voltex serves more than one million people a day in its network of stations in Chile. “These are one million daily experiences that we have throughout our trajectory. In addition, we serve more than 100,000 companies in different areas necessary for the economic development of the country, such as mining, transportation and service, from a look with innovation and digitization to deliver meaningful experiences.”
