Emotiv Mobility has announced a US$150 million investment to establish a new office and manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico, aiming to strengthen its operational presence in the country and support clients across North America.
The new automotive hub will focus on just-in-time assembly programs, materials sequencing, and modular subassembly (MSS), adapting to evolving vehicle platforms and production requirements in the automotive sector.
The Monterrey facility is designed to handle fluctuations in demand while maintaining efficiency and flexibility in manufacturing and logistics operations.
Shaun Twomey, Vice President of Commercial Operations and Strategy at Emotiv Mobility, highlighted Mexico’s strategic role as an industrial platform for automotive production in North America.
“This expansion reflects our long-term commitment to delivering operational capabilities that meet current industry standards, integrating engineering, flexible execution, and comprehensive supply chain support,” he said.

Mexico as a Strategic Industrial Platform
The company emphasized Mexico’s role as a key manufacturing hub in North America, citing a robust automotive ecosystem, integrated supply chains, and growing demand for resilient production operations.
Monterrey and the state of Nuevo León have become centers for advanced manufacturing and logistics, benefiting from modern infrastructure, specialized talent, and proximity to major industrial corridors in northern Mexico and the United States.
With this expansion, Emotiv Mobility will increase its ability to support OEMs and strategic partners through scalable manufacturing, sequencing, subassembly, packaging, and just-in-time production execution.
The investment is part of the company’s global growth strategy, focused on advanced energy systems, smart integration, and manufacturing solutions for emerging mobility markets.

Nuevo León Leads Automotive Investment in Mexico
Nuevo León closed 2025 as the leader in automotive investment in Mexico, with a total of US$1.4 billion, the highest in the country.
Key fourth-quarter projects included industrial park developments by FINSA in Apodaca and García, totaling more than US$600 million, and the expansion of Hyundai Mobis in Pesquería, with an investment of US$28.6 million.
At the national level, Mexico recorded 204 automotive investment projects worth US$9.2 billion in 2025, originating from 20 countries, primarily focused on auto parts manufacturing and industrial infrastructure.
Industry analysts note that Mexico remains a strategic platform for North American automotive production, with projects emphasizing technical specialization, selective investment, and preparation for the next phase, particularly in electrification, advanced manufacturing, and supply chain localization.
Growing Electric Mobility Ecosystem
Emotiv Mobility’s announcement coincides with an investment by VEMO, an electric mobility company that will allocate MX$825 million (US$47 million) in 2026 to develop its electric mobility ecosystem in Monterrey.
This initiative includes public EV charging infrastructure, financing programs for electric vehicles, a specialized maintenance workshop, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
With these projects, Monterrey and Nuevo León are solidifying their position as key hubs for automotive innovation and production in Mexico, integrating technology, skilled talent, and world-class logistics capabilities to meet growing demand for advanced mobility across North America.

The Conversation Continues: Latam Mobility 2026 Tour
The debate on smart cities, data, and urban mobility will continue throughout the year in the region’s main markets.
It will be an opportunity to further deepen the synergies between government, industry, academia, and civil society that make urban transformations possible. Because, as was demonstrated in this panel, smart cities are built with dialogue, with data, and above all, with the conviction that another model of mobility is possible.
The Latam Mobility 2026 Tour will travel through some of the region’s most dynamic cities, Mexico City, Brazil, Colombia, and Chile, establishing itself as a unique space to connect the ideas, projects, and leaders who are transforming mobility and the climate economy in Latin America.
Transition is already underway. The 2026 Latam Mobility Tour will be the gathering point to accelerate decisions, connect key players, and collaboratively build sustainable mobility for Latin America.
