Enel Chile Recognized as Sustainability Leader in Latin America

Due to its leadership, consistency, and excellence in the public disclosure of information on its Investor Relations and Sustainable Development practices, Enel Chile was distinguished with the “Grand Prix Empresa Alas20” award.

This is the most important category to which a company can aspire in Alas20, as it is only awarded to one organization in Latin America. Only those who have obtained first, second or third place in the following categories are eligible for this distinction: Sustainability Leading Company, Governance Leading Company and Investor Relations Leading Company.

In the case of Enel Chile, the company won first place in Sustainability Leader, thanks to a demanding ESG ratings process conducted by Morningstar Sustainalytics, and third place in Investor Relations Leader.

The generation assets are diversified, with a focus on renewable energies, which represent 74% of Enel Chile‘s installed capacity. Thus, 3,518 MW correspond to hydroelectric generation units, 2,083 MW to thermal power plants that operate with gas or oil, 1,762 MW to solar plants, 642 MW to wind generation units and 81 MW to geothermal capacity.

The group also operates in the energy distribution sector through Enel Distribución Chile, which serves more than 2 million customers in 33 municipalities in the Metropolitan Region, and also operates in the advanced energy solutions business through Enel X Chile.

“We are proud to receive this distinction because it is important that the market recognizes that sustainability is an intrinsic part of our business,” stated Fabrizio Barderi, CEO of Enel Chile.

“All our operations go hand in hand with sustainability, thereby driving the creation of value for our shareholders and for all our stakeholders,” he added.

Alas20 is a programmatic agenda that seeks to promote sustainable development in Latin America through business management and investment decisions, as an effective way to achieve a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive world.
