Major Charging Point Network Installed in Chile

The brand-new launch of the new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+, the first electrified vehicle of the iconic brand in Chile, is accompanied by a large charging infrastructure project to meet the demand of new technology cars.

Through Kaufmann, the manufacturer’s representative in Chile, it is planned to implement a large energy supply network.

There are currently 692 public charging chargers nationwide and 429 are concentrated in the Metropolitan Region. Due to this figure, the group announced the implementation, in a first stage, of charging points in 22 Kaufmann branches in the country, from Arica to Punta Arenas, before the end of 2022, with an investment by the company that exceeded 300,000 dollars.

Applied Technology

In this first stage, Kaufmann representatives want to simplify the experience of using electric vehicles. For this, the chargers will work with the “plug and charge” system, which means that they only need to be connected to the chargers and the vehicles will start charging and will not only be available for Mercedes-Benz customers, but for all those who have zero-emission vehicles.

The 22 supply centers can be used not only by the company’s customers, as they will be open for free use by any user of an electric vehicle, and thus be part of the company’s electric mobility ecosystem.

In this regard, Cristián Contreras, Kaufmann’s Electromobility Manager, pointed out that the company’s strategy is focused on understanding the needs of customers to adapt to electric vehicles, and offer comprehensive mobility solutions, which allow them to take on the challenges that may arise in this transition to this new technology.

“For this, we have prepared to provide after-sales support throughout the country; advice on the transition process and training to bring electromobility to people and accompany our customers in their transition to 100% electric vehicles,” he explained.
