Enel X and BMWi Donate Chargers to Santiago de Chile University

Enel X and BMWi, BMW’s electric vehicle brand, made a donation of three mode 3 electric chargers, semi-fast charging with capacity to recharge at 7.2 kWh and 400V, to the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH).

With the support and management of Enel X, the electric chargers will be used in the Electromobility Diploma, in engineering classes and will be on display for the students of the faculty.

Dante Carrasco, Head of Laboratory of the E2tech Center of the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Santiago, stated that the Electromobility Diploma is a fundamental part of the promotion of these technologies in the country.

“We see the principles of operation of the electric vehicle. Then we go through charging protocols and charging infrastructure. We analyze this theoretically and also look at projects associated with this same subject matter,” he said.

Equipment Use

Regarding the use of the donation made by BMWi, the chargers, being different from residential chargers, can be reviewed and analyzed by the students in the practical part of the Electromobility Diploma and thus learn the main qualities and how they differ from the rest of the electric chargers.

They will also be used in a course dedicated to electric drives, where different control logics and operation of motors and inverter rectifiers, among others, will be analyzed in depth.

Carrasco explains that one of the main objectives of the donation is “that students can relate more closely with this type of equipment”.

Latam Mobility in Chile

In August, Latam Mobility, the largest sustainable mobility community in Latin America, will once again arrive in Santiago de Chile for its 2024 meeting.

It will be two days that will bring together the most prominent industry leaders, along with public sector personalities, to offer their perspectives on advances in low-emission mobility, electromobility and sustainability.
