The number of charging points in Spain has seen a significant increase of 7.7% in the first quarter of 2025, reaching a total of 43,559 operational points compared to the previous quarter.
According to the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Mobility (Aedive), this growth reflects a positive trend with a 35.2% year-on-year increase.
The majority of the growth occurred in high-power charging infrastructure, with 18.5% of the new charging points in Spain installed in the range of 50 to 250 kW, and 20.2% above 250 kW. Additionally, rapid charging points (ranging from 22 to 50 kW) saw an increase of 11.95%.

Geographically, the autonomous communities of Catalonia, Madrid, and Andalusia continue to lead in terms of the number of charging points in Spain, with Andalusia quickly catching up to Madrid in terms of operational infrastructure.
Despite this growth, it is estimated that around 3,500 charging points in Spain are non-operational due to reasons such as maintenance or a lack of up-to-date information on their status.
This progress highlights Spain’s commitment to electric mobility and the necessary infrastructure for a transition to more sustainable mobility, solidifying its position as a leader in Europe in electric vehicle charging.
