Kia Unveils Ambitious Plan to Lead in Sustainable Mobility

Alliances such as the one announced with Cabify to boost electromobility in Peru, electrification of its fleet for the next decade and sophisticated technology implementation are not isolated strategies by the manufacturer Kia, but part of a large-scale plan to be one of the leaders in sustainable mobility.

As part of its “Plan S” program, the brand is on track for an all-electric future with 11 vehicles with this innovation on the market by 2026.

The company held the virtual event “Kia CEO Investor Day”, where it consolidated its strategic commitment to sustainability. The automotive giant aims to make its product lineup, initially in Europe, fully electrified by 2035, and 10 years later, expect it to be available worldwide. In addition to EVs, they will launch a hydrogen fuel cell car range starting in 2028.

In that regard, Kia aims to sell 4 million cars globally by 2030, and by 2027, the company will have a lineup of 14 battery-electric models.

This corporate project is supported by three key pillars: “people”, “planet” and “profitability”. On these, Kia will work to enhance customer value, promote talent, reduce carbon emissions and generate profits, while operating as a socially responsible company.

Advanced Innovation

In 2023, the firm plans to launch “AutoMode,” a new autonomous driving technology, with a first application on the EV9 car. By 2025, Kia will extend in-car connectivity features to its entire vehicle lineup.

In that vein, the manufacturer aims to become the world’s first car brand for specific functions such as “Purpose Built Vehicles, PBV” by 2030.

Regarding the financial theme and profitability of the business model, they announced their financial targets for 2026 with gross revenues of US$100 billion and an operating profit margin of 8.3%.

Ho Sung Song, President and CEO of Kia Corporation, highlighted that the organization has been undergoing a large-scale transformation with changes in corporate vision, logo, product, design and strategy.
