McLaren to Introduce the First Hybrid Supercar in Chile

From October 20 to 23, Chile will host the E Experience, a meeting that will allow to experience, disseminate and present the latest developments and trends towards the transformation to electromobility, use and implementation of renewable energy and promote the Triple Bottom Line of Sustainability focused on meeting today’s needs.

More than 80 brands will be present at the meeting where one of the most iconic firms in the automotive industry, McLaren, through Quantum, the company that represents them in Chilean territory, will unveil its first plug-in hybrid supercar.

It is the “Artura”, a spectacular model that concentrates more than half a century of experience in racing and street cars of the company in a next-generation supercar that combines innovative technology.

The car has a sharp, aerodynamic design and is built on a state-of-the-art carbon monocoque, which allows it to weigh just 1,498 kg.

Maximum Power

The McLaren Artura is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 330 km/h (self-limited).

It can achieve these acceleration figures due to its innovative powertrain, consisting of a 3-liter V6 Twin-Turbo engine that delivers 585 hp and 585 Nm of torque between 2,250 and 7,000 rpm.

The engine stands out for the use of a V at 120°, incorporating the two turbochargers inside it. This design allows it to offer a very low center of gravity.

In conjunction with this engine works an electric motor that generates 95 hp and 225 Nm of torque, so the combined power of the McLaren Artura reaches 680 hp and 720 Nm of torque.

High Technology

The McLaren Artura also features a version of the integrated caliper cooling ducts seen on its big brother 765LT, which in addition to being inspired by Formula 1, help reduce brake pad temperatures during track driving.

Its braking capacity, meanwhile, is provided by the latest generation of carbon-ceramic brakes and lightweight aluminum calipers, with 390 mm front and 380 mm rear discs, which together with the new rear axle design provide greater braking power and stability at high speed.
