The Las Vegas Electronics Show (CES 2023), continues to leave important announcements within the automotive industry, which seeks to accelerate the transition to electric mobility.
One of the most outstanding news of the event was made by Mercedes-Benz, which will install a huge public electric charging network worldwide, starting in North America but which will eventually total more than 10,000 points, extended on a global scale.
In the case of the United States and Canada, where the implementation of stations will start this year, the agreement signed by the German manufacturer with MN8 Energy, one of the main operators linked to the production of solar energy and electricity storage batteries, but also with ChargePoint, a company specialized in the recharging of electric vehicles, will be key.

Targets Set
According to what Mercedes unveiled at CES 2023, the goal is to have more than 2,500 points in total operating between the two countries by 2027, characterized by an exclusive, sustainable and quality service.
To develop the plan, an investment of more than 1 billion dollars has been planned, with half of the capital corresponding to the German brand and the other half to MN8 Energy.
The stations will be available to all users, regardless of the brand of car they drive, although Mercedes-Benz customers will have priority in this future network thanks to the Mercedes-Benz Electric Intelligence navigation system, which automatically plans the optimal route plan and incorporates the best charging points in the itinerary.
Design and Power
Depending on the location, each Mercedes station will have between 4 and 12 charging points, but in some specific cases locations with up to 30 centers are planned, with their maximum power being up to 350 kW.
In addition, their design will guarantee space and freedom of movement, as the charging posts will follow the formula used in most gas stations, where a vehicle is placed on each side.
All stations will have a canopy to protect chargers, vehicles and customers from the weather, and basic services such as toilets, cafeterias and restaurants will also be provided.
The energy supplied will always be from renewable sources, certified by the electricity company in each case.
