Mexico: VEMO and Uber Sign Agreement to Finance Electric Vehicles

VEMO and Uber announced the signing of a strategic agreement to promote the financing of electric and hybrid vehicles to driver-partners registered on the platform.

The agreement will be implemented through VEMO Impulso, VEMO’s fintech vertical that accumulates more than eight years of experience and 3,000 beneficiaries.

VEMO details in an official statement that the goal is for the application’s driver-partners to become owners of their vehicles at the end of the lease period, and thus be able to enjoy the benefits of owning a hybrid or electric vehicle.

Aaron Saenz, Director of VEMO Impulso, noted that the purpose is to promote the financial inclusion of independent drivers to build equity while decreasing their environmental impact.

“Through this agreement, the financial product for clean vehicles is a competitive and scalable reality. I am proud to see the development, entrepreneurship and transition of drivers to clean mobility,” he commented.

Along the same lines, Ricardo Martínez de la Maza, Director of Business Development at Uber Mexico, stated, “At Uber we know that the future has to be green, and our alliance with VEMO, now celebrating its third year, is the clearest proof that we mean business.

“We are proud to be strategic partners, and excited to contribute to making sustainable mobility a reality in Mexico,” he added.

In addition to the financial support, which includes competitive weekly payments, the product includes 24/7 support, substitute cars in case of accidents, working capital financing, specialized insurance, consulting and productivity monitoring, a vehicle maintenance and warranty program operated by VEMO‘s workshop, the first and only independent workshop specialized in electric vehicles in Mexico.

Participating driver-partners will also have access to the most robust and reliable public charger network in Mexico, operated by VEMO Charging Network (VCN), whose location, operation and payment for charging can be done through the “Watts by VEMO” mobile application.
