With broad technological reach through telematics and IoT, or Internet of Things, to achieve high levels of efficiency, safety and sustainability of its vehicles, Telefónica Tech and Geotab announce their collaboration with car company Vecttor.
According to Geotab‘s official website, the data provided by Telefónica Tech’s solution and the telematics leaders have enabled Vecttor’s fleet to save between 14,000 and 18,000 liters of fuel per month, which in economic terms means savings of more than 200,000 euros per year.
Another major challenge Vecttor has faced with this pact has been to reduce empty times between each trip, i.e. times when drivers travel without passengers.
The solution allows Vecttor to access all the information needed to reduce and optimize these waiting times as much as possible, relevant data such as distances traveled, parking place and time, or trip history for each vehicle.

Safety Standards
Proprietary algorithms and accelerometer data have enabled Vecttor to carry out a thorough reconstruction of any incident, which in turn increases passenger safety on every trip.
Ivan Lequerica, VP Southern and Western Europe at Geotab points out that the role of technology is instrumental in promoting more efficient, sustainable and safer mobility in Spain.
“Our data analysis allows us to monitor fleet movements and identify areas for improvement. More and more passenger transport companies will be looking to use vehicle data to generate cost savings and improve their sustainability footprint. Without a doubt, we are delighted that a leading multi-mobility company such as Vecttor is betting on our technology to continue revolutionizing mobility in our country,” said the executive.
Along the same lines, Manuel Delgado, CIO at Vecttor, emphasized that this type of alliance is a clear example of the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and the safety of customers and employees.
“Having measurement systems such as Telefónica Tech and Geotab‘s allows us to record valuable data and thus modulate our strategy according to the results obtained. In addition, this technology has become a key piece in the path towards the electrification of fleets and towards the construction of a sustainable, digitized and quality sector,” he explained.
For his part, Gonzalo Martín-Villa, CEO of IoT and Big Data at Telefónica Tech, expressed his satisfaction that Vecttor has chosen its fleet management solution to make its vehicles more efficient and reduce environmental impact.
“This is yet another example of how our IoT and Big Data technology helps companies transform their business models to make them more competitive,” he said.
