Wallbox’s Technological Leadership Continues to Expand in Latin America

With customers in more than 110 countries, Wallbox, one of the leading providers of electric vehicle charging and energy management solutions, continues its global expansion process to promote environmentally friendly mobility.

It is worth noting that currently, despite the great advances in sustainable mobility, the lack of a good public infrastructure network remains one of the barriers to the mass adoption of electric vehicles. An impediment that, in turn, represents great challenges and opportunities for companies and governments.

Specifically in Latin America, Wallbox estimates that approximately 400,000 to 800,000 charging points are needed to meet the demand for electric cars, as each owner requires 1.5 charging points to maintain their car’s battery anywhere they wish to visit.

In its ambitious expansion policy, the company founded by Enric Asunción and Eduard Castañeda is present in Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Dominican Republic and the Caribbean islands, among others.

In the region, the company has entered into strategic alliances with prestigious companies. For example, in Chile, they partnered with Copec to install smart chargers both in the household segment and in public spaces.

In the case of Mexico, Wallbox will enter the market during the second half of 2022, through a key partnership with the company E-DRIVE. Throughout its 7 years of operation, the Mexican company has positioned itself as a leader in electric vehicle charging solutions in the residential, commercial and public segments, in addition to being the main ally of the automotive industry, which has allowed it to enjoy a market share of over 85%.

It will also be in the second half of the year when Wallbox chargers will be available for electric vehicle drivers in Colombia. This will be thanks to an agreement with Los Coches, the largest multi-brand dealership in the country and one of the most important in Latin America.

High Tech

In all three markets, Wallbox will offer the Pulsar Plus. In Mexico, the Commander 2, the most premium charger that the brand currently has, will also be sold, and in Colombia the Copper SB will also be sold. All these chargers include an application that allows the charger to communicate using Wi-Fi or 4G networks, offering an intelligent, convenient, simple and safe charging experience for users.

Measuring 16 x 16 cm, the Pulsar Plus is one of the smallest chargers of its kind. Designed for home use, this model has Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, charging programming, voice control through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as PowerBoost, the system that ensures that the charger uses the available energy of the home, without the need to hire more power or compromising the home network.

For its part, the Cooper SB model comes with a socket-type connector and is more adaptable in a market where there are vehicles with different ports. Finally, the Commander model – which, like the Copper SB, is an ideal charging solution for businesses – comes with a 7-inch touch screen for easy operation.
