Adopting new technologies through regional and global integration, as well as obtaining financing for the energy transition to electric mobility, is fundamental for the development of this area in Latin America.
In this regard, the Federal Government of Brazil considers it essential to strengthen the partnership between the European Union and Mercosur to boost the transportation sector, with the aim of attracting more investment and improving the quality of the Brazilian road network.
To achieve these goals, the Minister of Transport, Renan Filho, received the Spanish Ambassador to Brazil, María del Mar Fernández-Palacios, to strengthen ties between the two countries and reinforce international cooperation.

Model to Follow
During the meeting, Filho highlighted Spain’s railway network as an example for Brazil to follow in improving both freight and passenger transportation. He also recognized the role of Spanish companies in the management of important infrastructure assets in the country that have already been transferred to the private sector.
The meeting cited cases such as the management of the Congonhas (SP) and Maceió (AL) air terminals, managed by companies based in Spain, and the works on national territory executed by COMSA Corporación, an infrastructure development and industrial engineering company that worked on the BRT project in Brasília (DF) and interventions on the BR-101/AL.
Working Network
Since he assumed the Ministry of Transport, Renan Filho has been in dialogue with representatives of governments and entities from different countries, in order to expand international cooperation in the transport sector.
The minister has already met with ambassadors of important trading partners, including China and neighboring Uruguay and Argentina – Latin American countries with which road infrastructure projects are underway – as well as representatives of the World Bank.
Latam Mobility Lands in Brazil
Precisely to address the progress and prospects of the transport sector in Brazil, the most important community on sustainable mobility in Latin America, Latam Mobility, will have a new destination, Sao Paulo, Brazil, where it will exclusively present the “Latam Mobility & Net Zero Day” on March 23.
The meeting will be attended by the main representatives of the public sector and leaders of important private companies, who will show the advances in sustainable mobility in transportation, clean fuels, technological innovations, and the perspectives for Brazil and the region.
